Judy McGinn
I started painting late in life. Although my first degree was in English, my second was in commercial art. Painting came later when my children were grown and I had more time and space at home.
Workshops are where I learned to love painting. I tried watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and oil. I alternate mostly between acrylic and oil. Some of the teachers I have been fortunate enough to have learned from are: Scott Burdick, Susan Lyon, Molly Davis, Dee Beard Dean, William Hook, Morgan Samuel Price, Connie Winters, Ann Templeton, Ken Auster, Greg Biolchini, and Tom Edgerton.
I have felt rewarded in my painting efforts by having won some awards, the first being in High Point in 2001, and by having happy homes for many of my paintings. I have had work exhibited at various venues in North Carolina and South Carolina and will continue to do so with POPS (Piedmont Outdoor Painting Society.) I also show at Brookgreen Gardens’ Artists under the Arcade in the summer and have home showings of my work approximately once every two years.
